What 4 layer are the epidermis made up of?
Stratus corneum, luciderm, granulosum, germinativum.
What is the epidermis?
The top (most superficial) layer of skin.
What is the epidermis made up of?
Stratified epithelial cells.
What is the dermis made up of?
Fibrous and elastic tissue.
What does the dermis contain?
Blood and lymph vessel, sensory nerve receptors, hair follicles and glands, muscles and immune cells.
What is the hypodermis referred to as?
Subcutis.
What does hypodermis (subcutis) consist of?
Areolar tissue (fat).
What tissue provide shock absorbency on pads?
Apidose.
What 4 things is the skin a continuous layer of the mucous membranes?
Mouth, nose, anus, gential openings.
Where is the skin thickest on the limbs?
Dorsal and lateral.
Where is the skin thinnest on limbs?
Ventral and medial.
What are the 6 functions of the skin?
Protect, production, sense, store, thermoregulation, communication.
