Integrative Process Flashcards
Integrative Process Delivery (IPD) Description
a process that involves all project participants in the design and construction processes as early as possible via collaboration.
Available under LEED V4 as a single credit.
Pre-requisite for LEED health-care project.
IPD Benefits
Reduced timeline
Cost control
Better communication and sequencing
IPD Credit Purpose/Intent
To encourage and reward opportunities for teamwork in the construction planning and design process.
IPD Credit Method of Achievement
Coordinating early and often to encourage cost effective adoption of green design and construction practices that follow Owner Project Requirements (OPR) and leverage synergies among LEED credits
What do synergies exist within?
Significant synergies exist within Energy and Atmosphere, Water Efficiency, and Sustainable Sites.
Green roof related credit concepts
Credit compliance path for Heat Island Reduction within SS credits and credit compliance with earning Rainwater Management credit and in EA for optimizing energy performance due to roof insulation qualities.
Owner Project Requirement Documents
Written document used in all LEED projects that outlines specific criteria and concepts that are determined by building owner to drive success of LEED project
When do you identify and apply opportunities to achieve synergies?
In predesign and design phases of project.
What do you inform with the analysis of synergies?
OPR, BOD, and Construction documents
What do you analyze for synergies
Energy and Water related systems.
What do you do to analyze Energy Related Systems
Perform a preliminary energy modeling analysis that explores how to reduce energy loads in the building?
What do you do to analyze Water Related Systems
Perform a preliminary water budget that explores how to reduce potable water loads (indoor, outdoor, process water, and supply sources) in the building.
When do you need to complete analysis of Energy and Water related systems?
Before the completion of the schematic designs and document how analysis affects the OPR and BOD.
Integrated Project Team
Minimum of (4) professional in addition to the owner or owner’s representative. I.E. architect, building designer, ME, Energy Modeler, commissioning agent, community representative, general contractor, green building consultant, lighting designer, facility managers.
Design Charrette
A (4) hour meeting with the project team held as early as possible before schematic design.
