Awards points for using innovative design measures, exemplary performance and by having a LEED AP as principal project participant.
The buildings innovative energy saving façade is an example of a strategy that could contribute to innovation.

Innovation Credit
Purpose: Opportunity to achieve exceptional performance/or innovative performance.
Requirements:
Innovation (1) point per strategy, up to (3) points. Use a strategy not addressed in the rating system to achieve significant, measurable environmental performance.

LEED Pilot Strategy
Pilot (1 point per credit, up to 3 points)
Achieve one pilot credit from USGBC’s LEED Pilot Credit Library.
Requirements: A credit that has not been balloted and introduced into LEED, but can be attempted for one point in Innovation Design. LEED give feedback on the credits so that they can be adjusted before the ballot or thrown out.
Exemplary Performance: (1-2) points achieve double the credit requirements or the next incremental credit threshold.

High Priority Site - (1) EP of combine option 1 with options 2 or 3.
Access to Quality Transit - (1) point for doubling the highest transit service.
Reduce Parking Footprint - (1) point for providing 60-80% lower parking ratios than stated base ratios. Also for adding parking space leasing, pedestrian travel, bicycles.

Site Development, Protect or Restore - Doubling the requirements in either option 1 or option 2, the project may earn an additional point. Double the restoration requirement by 60% or the Financial Requirement by $.80 cents per SF.

Heat Island Reduction - Achieve nonroof and roof and 100% of parking under cover
Places of Respite - Both 10% of program area as place of respite for patients/visitors and 4% program area for staff.

Construction Demolition Management - Achieve both diversion (option 1) and Reduction of Total Waste (Option 2).

LEED Accredited Professional Credit
Purpose: To support & Encourage Design Integration required by LEED to streamline the application and certification process.
Requirements: At least 1 principal participant of the project team shall be a LEED AP with Specialty appropriate for the project. Legacy LEED APs (LEED APs without specialty) are no longer eligible for innovation points.
Note: 1 point for 1+ LEED AP with Specialty on the project. No additional points for incremental increases in additional LEED APs.
