generally created by doing a cost-benefit analysis of whether the project should proceed or not and using different business cases as to why the project is needed

What is a project charter?
document that officially authorizes the project to get started
contains:
-project justification and purpose
-name of project manager
-assignment of authority to the project manager
-signature of sponsor (senior management) or others authorizing the project
Develop a project management plan
process of creating the project management plan that includes all subsidiary plans and baselines
only an approved change request can change a plan once it has been approved
What is a change management plan?
outline how change requests will be collected, assessed, authorized, and incorporated into the project
What is a configuration management plan?
outline how the various components of a project can be configured
how are you going to update the plan once the deliverables are given
What is performance measurement baseline?
checks the performance of the project as it is being executed
integrates scope, schedule, and cost into a single baseline that is used to track performance of the project

the main objective so the PM can use the knowledge that is gaoined throughout the project

ensures that all info is avaliable to stakeholders when needed
