Rapid; Onset 5-15min; Peak 1hr; Duration 2hrGive 15 min before meal.Can be given with NPH (draw glulisine up first)
Regular (Humulin R, Novolin R)
Short; Onset 1-1.5hr; Peak 2-3hr; Duration 4-6hrGive 30-60min before meal.Only insulin that can be given with an IV.Can be given with Long acting insulin.
Isophane susp (NPH, Humulin N)
Intermediate; Onset 2-4hr; Peak 4-12hr; Duration 16-20hr Is cloudy in appearance. Usually given after mealCan be mixed with Aspart, Regular, and Lispro
