Instrumentation Flashcards
1
Q
What does ASV do?
A
Continuously changes the inspiratory PS on a breath-by-breath basis and during apneas
2
Q
What is the goal of ASV?
A
Even out the breathing variation by targeting recent average ventilation or volume
3
Q
What are the ASV adjustments for Respironics BiPAP AutoSV Advanced?
A
- EPAPmin and EPAPmax
- Pressure testing mode like AutoCPAP: Increases 1 cm H2O every 15 seconds if at least 2 obstructive events
4
Q
What are the PS adjustments for Respironics BiPAP AutoSV Advanced?
A
- Current breath’s starting PS based on prior breath’s PS and how far previous breath was from target volume with gain determined from the PS needed to reach a volume during the last 30 breaths
- Intrabreath adjustment of PS based on flow just before halfway point of inspiratory cycle if expected volume differs from target volume
- Limited by PSmin and PSmax
5
Q
How does Volume-Assured Pressure Support (VAPS) work?
A
Continuously changes the inspiratory PS on a breath-by-breath basis
6
Q
How is the goal of VAPS different from ASV?
A
VAPS targets a set goal volume or ventilation while ASV targets recent volumes or ventilation
