Instrument Check EPs Flashcards
Generator failure in flight
Indications: Single generator light
Actions: Reset, try opposite side of shift range, reset
Considerations: land as soon as practical
Left gen no cross
Indications: Gen Light, Fuel Pressure light, AoA lights, Hydraulic gauge freezes, left FF and Oil P show OFF, Loss of lights
Actions: Gen fail steps, get below 25k
Considerations: land as soon as practical, At night will not be seen (no lights)
Right gen no cross
Indications: Gen light, Fuel Pressure light, Eng Anti Ice, Right FF and Oil Pressure show OFF, CWS lights go to bright
Actions: Gen fail steps, get below 25k
Considerations: NF, no trim landing, Burn down fuel, if able to reset consider setting flaps 60% and trimming in case it fails again
Generator Failure (Partial)
Indications: Weird
Actions: Identify which generator by circuit breaker diagram
Considerations: 3 phase items- BP, Trans Rect, Flaps (slow actuation) HUD
Gearbox failure to shift
Indications: Gen light comes on when accelerating or decelerating
Actions: Try moving through range and resetting
Considerations: If gen works on low end leave it low and fly a SSE, IF gen works on high end consider turning bad gen off
Dual TR Failure
Indications: TRANS XFER light illuminated (both have failed)
Actions: Hack, Turn to recovery, Check DME, Radio Call (last transmission…) SPEED UP
Considerations: 15 mins of power at best, dont respond to check IP radio transmissions (it may be a trap) Pin the landing gear before taxiing
Electrical Fire
Indications: DUH
Actions: Gangload, Descend below 25k (below 18/10k ideal) Ramp dumb, inform IP of issue, turn components off, Run after after landing and engine shutdown checklist
Considerations: Turn battery on first
Electrical Failure - Complete
Indications: Everything turns off
Actions: Battery switch - confirm on, Reset the generators
Considerations: NF landing will be required, ALT gear extension will be required
Right Essential DC failure
Indication: Loss of TACAN and UHF radio
Actions:
Considerations:
