Input and Output Energy Flashcards
What is input energy?
The energy that goes into a system to make it work.
What is output energy?
The energy that comes out of the system.
What is stored energy?
Energy that is found in an object an used later.
Give examples of stored energy
Food, or fuel such as wood, paraffin, coal
Why does a machine need energy?
It needs energy to move /work /operate
What do machines and household appliances do with electricity?
They convert electrical energy into other useful energies.
What can electrical energy be transformed into?
It can be transformed into heat, light, sound and movement energy.
What is the energy that goes into a system called?
Input energy
The paraffin put into a paraffin lamp is called input energy. What is the light that that it produces called?
Output energy
Energy can go from a source of energy to where it is needed. What is this called?
Energy transfer
How can one type energy change to another?
Through transfer of energy. Example, when we burn wood, the stored energy is changed to light and heat energy
What does an input energy create?
An output energy like heat, light, movement or sound
System
Something that has 2 or more parts that work together
What type of energy is stored in a battery?
Chemical energy
