Innovation Flashcards
What are the two types of innovations that are in focus? give examples
- Radical- siginificant impact on a market (new innovation)
- transitor va tidigare en stor kupol sen en liten liten del
- Ford
- smartphone apple
- Incremental- Significatliy enchanced or upgraded (developed inoovation)
What are the histroical revolutions?
What is Kaizen?
- Traditional improvments
- Repaeated incremental improvment steps
- “poitn Kaizen” or event driven improvments
- “Flow Kaizen” incoporates total operations in Lean mnufacturing (TPS)
What is Kaikaku?
Radical improvment
- Kaikaku can describe radical non-recurring improvments or changes
- Semtiomes called redical Kaizen
- “Kaikaku teams” often take control of operations in crisis situation
How is the innovation typically driven by technological evolution?
- Physically smaller componenent fulfil the same function
- The same function is produces while consuming less resources
- The number of components decreases with same function
- Component become more integrated
- More and more machines are electro-machinical
- More an more content of electronics in machines
- Increased automation in porudcts
- Overall products become more complex
What parts is it in the requirments driven product innovation?
Internal, user and legal has requirments on the new products and needs and technologies also effects what requirments it is
What is the definition of an innovation?
Something “new and useful”
What are the four different domains of innovation?
- Product innovation
- Which involves introduction og new goods or services that are substantially improves. This might include improvments in functional characteristics, technocal abilities, ease of use, or any other dimension.
- Process innovation
- Involves the implementation of a new or significantly improved production or delivery method
- Marketing innovation
- IS the development of a new marketing methods which improvement i product design or packinging, product promotion or piercing.
- Organisational innovation
- Involves the creation of new organisations, business practices, or ways of running organisations.
What is a product service system?
The thing that is sold is the service itself like sunfleet car rental
What is important with innoations to think about in ramanufacturing perspective ?
- pave the way for easy remanufaturing of systems and componets that have a low pace of development.
- Pave the way for easy upgrading/ replacment of components that have a high pce of development
- Pave the way för easy repair/ replacement of components that often break or deterorate
- Pave the way for easy re-configuration of systems and components whose context-of-use differ much during their life cycle.
- But, one should not remanufacture goods that inherently have short service life
How is the “house” of the toyota production system built?
- The base:
- Emplyee satisfaction, stability (process, people), mutual trust between employees and managment
- Columd:
- Just- in-time:
- pull system, 1 pieace flow, takt time, leveted production
- Jidoka:
- Andon, poka yoke, standardized work
- Over all continues improvments
- Just- in-time:
- The roof:
- Custom service:
- Increase quality, decrease cost and lead time
- Custom service:
