Innominate Diagnosis/SD Flashcards
What must you do whenever you first have your patient lie down on the table?
Reset their hips
Patient supine with bent knees with feet flat on table then have them lift hips off table and then straighten out their legs
Explain the Standing Flexion test
Have patient stand in front of doctor who is sitting at the level of the patients PSIS; bilaterally monitor the inferior aspects of the PSIS and have the patient bend forward; monitor to see which PSIS moves first and furthest
Explain the pelvic compression test
Have patient supine; bilaterally contact the ASIS and induce a posterior and medial force on one ASIS at a time noting hard end feel; positive test is a hard end feel
Explain how to evaluate ASIS height
Patient is supine; bilaterally contact the inferior aspects of the ASIS with your thumbs and take note whether one side is superior or inferior to the other side
Explain how to evaluate ASIS to midline?
Patient supine; place thumb on inferior aspect of ASIS and measure distance to umbilicus; compare to other side
Explain how to evaluate malleoli height/length
Have patient supine; move to foot of table and place thumbs on inferior aspects of medial malleoli and compare bilaterally to see if one is more superior or inferior than the other
Explain how to evaluate PSIS height
Have patient lie prone; place thumbs on inferior aspect of PSIS and see whether one side is superior or inferior to the other
Explain how to evaluate pubic tubercles
Have patient supine; using palm with fingers pointing cephalad apply a posterior force and move inferiorly until you find the pubic tubercles; then place your thumbs at the superior aspects of the pubic tubercles and compare to see if one side is superior or inferior to the other side
What are the SD of the innominate?
Anterior/Posterior Innominate Rotation
