Submission
Shahada - the expression of faith is a constant reminder to Muslims of their submission and the requirement to honour Allah’s commands in all aspects of life. This is important as’ As-Salaam’ which translates to ‘the Source of Peace.’ Through acknowledging the might and oneness of Allah, adherents reach a sense of intrinsic peace in the fact that they know they have completed a halal deed in the eyes of Allah.
Jihad
Hajj - the obligatory pilgrimage to Mecca once a life. Involves a range of rituals focusing on love of Allah, rejection of the devil and inspires equality amongst individuals.
Universal Brotherhood
Zakat - an obligatory pillar that requires Muslims to donate 2.5% of excess wealth to charity. By completing a pillar of faith (Zakat) Muslims are acknowledging the Universal Brotherhood that exists within Islam and respecting all members of the Umma.
Agape
Works of Mercy/Acts of Mercy for Catholics and Methodists: A popular practice in the catholic church act of penance and charity. The Methodist church teaches that the works of mercy are a means of grace that leads to holiness and aid in sanctification. Examples of works of mercy include feeding the hungry and visiting the sick .
Forgiveness
Sacrament of Reconciliation for Catholics Reconciliation for Catholics is where sins that are committed after baptism are reconciled and forgiven to be united with christian community. These sins are confessed for devotional reasons to build inner peace and get closer to God. Sins committed after baptism and reconciled with the Christian community through a structured sacrament and assistance from a priest.
