Q

Starting Procedure

A
  1. Condition Lever ….. CUT OFF / FEATHER
  2. POWER Lever ….. FI
  3. FUEL PUMP ….. ON, F PRESS OUT
4 STBY FUEL PUMP ….. AUTO

Give start signal to ground crew. When clear:

If TOT above 150C, BLOW engine until below 150C then wait for N1 to decay between 1% and 4%. Note time at BLOW to ensure total starter time will not exceed 30 seconds, otherwise wait 1 minute for starter/generator cooling. A normal start cycle takes approx 15 seconds for starter to disengage at 58% N1.

  1. TOT ….. <150C
  2. START Switch ….. Trigger START, release OFF

When N1 accelerates through calculated speed:

  1. Condition Lever ….. HIGH
  2. TOT ….. Rising within 3 sec
  3. Propeller ….. Turning by 25% N1, Unfeathering by time N1 stabilizes

When engine has stabilized at IDLE (60% N1 or above):

  1. OIL LO PRESS ….. Caption Out
  2. IGN ON ….. Caption Out
  3. Oil Pressure ….. Within limits (>50 PSI)
  4. N2 ….. Min 1220 RPM

If External Power used:

b. POWER Lever ….. GI
c. External Power ….. Disconnected
d. POWER LEVER ….. FI

  1. GEN ….. ON, voltages approx 28V
  2. GEN Ammeter ….. Indicates +ve charge
  3. N1 & TOT ….. Monitor
  4. AVIONICS MASTER ….. ON
  5. FLARM ….. Observe self-test unless night flying
