Inguinal region Flashcards
What structures are derived from the EAO?
- Inguinal ligament
- external spermatic fascia (not important to remember)
- lacunar ligament
- superficial ring
What structures are derived from the IAO?
- Cremaster muscle and fascia
2. Conjoint tendion (+ TA)
What structures are derived from transverses abdomens muscle?
- conjoint tendon
What structures are derived from the transversals fascia?
- deep inguinal ring
2. internal spermatic layer
What is the pathway of the indirect inguinal hernia?
deep inguinal ring–>inguinal canal–>superficial ring
What is the pathway of the direct inguinal hernia?
abdominal wall medial to the inferior epigastric artery in “weak area”
What is the inguinal triangle bound by?
inferior epigastric artery, lateral edge of rectus ab, inguinal ligament
What is the pathway of femoral hernias?
protrusion of small intestine through femoral ring–>femoral canal (below inguinal ligament)
what is the femoral ring bound by?
femoral vein (laterally), lacunar ligament (medial), pectineal ligament (posteriorly), inguinal ligament (anteriorly)
From where does the ilioinguinal nerve arise?
L1 ventral ramus, nerve is found between EAO and IAO. L1 dermatone
What is the cremaster muscle innervated by?
genitofemoral nerve from L1/L2 spinal cords
