What is the Inguinal canal?
An oblique passage through the lower part of the anterior abdominal wall
What does the Inguinal canal carry in the male?
Carries structures to/from the testis, abdomen and ilioinguinal nerve
What does the Inguinal canal carry in the female?
Carries round ligaments of the uterus from the pelvis to the labia majora and ilioinguinal nerve
What is the superficial Inguinal ring?
It is the exit by which the spermatic cord in makes or the round ligament in females emerged from Inguinal canal
What gives rise to the external spermatic fascia?
Crura
What is the deep Inguinal canal?
The entrance to Inguinal canal
What shape is the deep Inguinal canal in the transversalis fascia?
Oval
Where can you find the deep Inguinal ring?
Between the anterior superior iliac spine and pubic symphysis. 1.3cm above Inguinal ligament
What is the Inguinal ligament formed as?
Formed as the aponeurosis of external oblique rolls back on itself.
What does the free edge of lacunar ligament form?
Medial margin of femoral ring
What does the lacunar ligament join to?
The thick periosteum of the pectineal line
What is a hernia?
A protrusion of tissue
Where does the spermatic cord begin?
At deep Inguinal ring and ends at the testis
What are vas deferens?
Cordlike muscular duct which transports spermatozoa from the epididymis to the urethra
What supplies the testis and epididymis?
Testicular artery
