Optical media
A CD which contains info. Information can be read by a laser that projects beams onto the spinning CD. It is slow, has limited storage and isnt durable. Also cheap.
Magnetic media
Uses a magnetic field to magnetise different sections of a hard disk drive to read info. Can store unlimited amounts of data but is slow to read. Magnets can be damaged which can cause all data to be lost. Also cheap.
Solid state storage
Uses flash memory to store long term data which is non volatile. Can store large storage despite small size. Very fast and durable due to no moving parts. Very portable but expensive.
