- insecure resistant more likely to bully

Q
Outline Hazan and Shaver’s (1987) love quiz
A
- had a questionnaire in a newspaper and got 620 replies from 14-82 year olds
- asked people about their relationships, love experiences and their attachment type
FINDINGS - 56% secure 25% avoidant and 19% resistant
- those securely attached felt love was enduring, were more trusting and were less likely to get divorced
- insecurely attached felt love was rare, fell in and out of love easily, found relationships difficult, more likely to get divorced
7
Q
AO3 evaluation of Hazan and Shaver’s love quiz
A
- questionnaire = socially desirable answers
- retrospective data (looking into he past) can lack accuracy
- people can’t self report on things they were unaware of in their own childhood
- good sample size
- good age range, but the old people may add to the problem of retrospective data
8
Q
AO3 evaluation of the influence of early attachment
A
- causation ? Just because there is an association does not mean there is an established cause and effect
- most studies use questionnaire or interview which are self report (socially desirable answers)
- retrospective data can be unreliable
- internal working model is unconscious which means we can only assess what people can consciously describe, we only get a partial picture
