Also known as humoral immunity, involves antigen-antibody interactions to neutralize eliminate or destroy foreign proteins. Anti-bodies are produced by sensitized B lymphocytes.

The body has to learn to generate specific immune responses when it is infected by or exposed to a specific organisms. Lymphocytes develop actions and products that provide the protection of true immunity. The cells develop specific actions in response to specific invasion.
