Power Reassurance
Intended to restore the offender’s self-confidence or self-worth through the use of low-aggression means; apologizes, terminates attack with resistance, minimal force; AvPD
Power Assertive
Intended to restore the offender’s self-confidence or self-worth through the use of high-aggression means; controls and humiliates, offensive language, degrading acts; NPD, egocentricity, not fearing police
Anger Retaliatory
Indicates a great deal of rage toward a person, group, institution, or a symbol of these for a real or perceived wrong-doing; unplanned, brutal, overkill, cumulative rage, explosives, disfigurement; PPD and AsPD
Sadistic
Offender gets sexual gratification from a victim’s pain and suffering; motivated by sexual fantasies, eroticized aggression or torture, goal of fear and submission, keeps trophies, sexual torture, long period of time, seductive
Administrative Behavior
Crime scene behaviors that serve material/financial (profit oriented) or personal (goal oriented) gain; not motivated by emotional or psychological means, less time at the scene, targeted victim, interest in valuables
