Gingivostomatitis in Herpes
- oral aciclovir
- chlorhexidine mouthwash
Cold sores in Herpes
-topical aciclovir
Genital Herpes
- oral aciclovir
- saline bathing
- topical anaesthetic e.g. lidocaine
- analgesia
Genital Warts
- multiple, non-keratinised: topical podophyllum
- single, keratinised: cryotherapy
- 2nd line: topical imiquimod
Gonorrhoea
- ciprofloxacin
- now more common IM ceftriaxone (+ oral azithromycin)
- alt: oral cefixime + oral azithromycin
Non-gonococcal Urethritis
azithromycin or doxycycline
Syphilis
- IM benzathine penicillin
- doxycycline
Trichomonas Vaginalis
oral metronidazole 5-7 days
Urethritis
- 7 days doxycycline
- 1 dose azithromycin oral
Lower UTI in non-pregnant women
- trimethoprim/nitrofurantoin
- culture if >65 yo or haematuria or pregnant
Lower UTI in pregnant women
-nitrofurantoin (avoid near term), amoxicillin or cefalexin
Lower UTI in catheterised patients
- no treatment if asymptomatic
- symptomatic, Abx 7 days
