Chicken pox presentation
Initially a fever
Itchy rash starting on head/ trunk then spreads
Macular - Papular - Vesicular
Mild systemic upset
Measles prodrome presentation
Irritable
Conjunctivitis
Fever

Koplik spots - white spots on buccal mucosa
Rash - starts behind the ear and spread to the whole body. Muculopapular becoming blotchy and confluent
Mumps presentation
Fever
Malaise
Muscular pain
Parotitis - earache / pain on eating
Rubella presentation
Pink maculopapular rash on face spreading to whole body
Fades by day 3/5
Lymphadenopathy - particularly posterior auricular and suboccipital lymph nodes
Scarlet fever presentation
Fever Malaise Tonsilitis Strawberry tongue Fine punctuate erythema sparing the face
Hand foot and mouth disease
Mild systemic upset
Vesicles in the mouth and on the palms and soles of feet
Meningitis in those under 3m treatment
Cefotaxime
Meningitis in those over 3m treatment
Ceftriaxone
Blood tests in those with suspected meningococcal disease
RBC CRP Coag Blood culture PCR for N meningitidis BM Blood gas
How regular should monitoring be in those with suspected meningococcal disease?
