- BEFORE any procedure on patient
- AFTER touching patient
- AFTER exposure to any body fluids
- AFTER touching patient’s environment/surroundings
What is PPE?
special clothing equipment that healthcare workers wear to provide a protective barrier between themselves & any infectious materials
When should gloves be used?
- when there’s any possibility of exposure to blood or body fluids
- when u may touch a patient/their environment
- when u deal with contact isolation/airborne precautions patients
When should gowns be used?
- protect your clothing & skin from any contaminating risks
- when you deal with contact isolation/ airborne precautions patients
when should masks be used?
- to protect healthcare worker’s nose & mouth area from any splashes
- when u deal with droplet precautions patients
when should goggles or face shields be used?
- when there is risk of being splashed or sprayed with blood or body fluids onto eyes & nodes

What are the indications for wearing an N-95 mask?
- tuberculosis
- SARS
- Avian influenza
What is the sequence for WEARING the PPE?
1- clean hands 2- wear gown & wrap it around back 3- wear mask 4- wear goggles 5- wear gloves
