immunosuppressed, chicken pox
virulence factors: M protein
complication: rheumatic fever,
staph aureus
widespread carriage in nasal passage, perineum and axillae
causes skin infections and serious systemic
staph scalded skin syndrome
toxic shock syndrome
impetigo
s pyogenes/ s aureus
highly contagios
no systemic symptoms
SSSS
aureus
fever, widespread redness, fluid filled blisters, rupture easily, especially in skin folds
Kawasaki disease
self limited vasculitis of medium sized arteries
reported in all racial and ethnic groups,
fever for 5 days plus: unremitting fever bilateral conjunctival injection cracked lips/ strawberry tongue cervical lymphadenopathy polymorphous rash changes of the extremities
