steps to CPR. First
Tap foot and shout the baby’s name
if no response move to next step
CPR second
Yell for help
CPR third
Tell someone to call 911
call on speaker phone 911 if alone
CPR fourth
Move baby to hard surface like a table or floor, face up.
Start chest compressions
to fingers from one hand pushing straight down
1.5” firmly
count 30 compressions
CPR fifth
give 2 breaths
Make sure chin is up and hand is holding chin up and not closing the throat.
cover nose and mouth with your mouth and blow slowly until infants chest rises
let the chest lower on it’s own
then repeat again (total 2 times)
Return to step 4, chest compressions (30) then breaths (2) repeating until EMTs arrive.
Choking first
one arm hold with baby along arm with head face down at hands.
Choking second
with your other hand give 5 slaps with the palm of your hand between shoulder blades to free the food or item
you’ll see it come out, if it doesn’t come out move to other arm step 3
Choking three
Switch to your other arm face UP and a downward angle again then do 5 compressions to see if you can get the food dislodged with the air in lungs
Choking four
Repeat step two by returning the infant to your other arm and slap their back again 5 times
Repeat step three by returning to the opposite arm and 5 chest compressions to dislodge the food.
Repeat both until it comes out
IF it doesn’t come out, check to see if they need CPR.
