British East India Co imported opium to China; many became addicted; Chinese official demanded that opium trade in Canto stop; GB refused; war started
Sepoy Rebellion
Started when Sepoy Indian troops refused to use ammo believed to be dipped in pork fat. Pigs and cows were sacred. Also unhappy due to oppression of religion, land takeovers. In the end, India dissolved British East Indian Company and Britain took control of India directly
