Steps of CCMA

A

Conciliation- parties in disputed get together with neutral 3rd party
Mediation- process of making recommendations to parties
Arbitration- dispute given to 3rd party to make final decision
Adjudication- dispute may go to labour court

  • CCMA has 30 days to resolve dispute through conciliation
  • If conciliation fails ,CCMA writes certificate saying dispute has not been resolved
  • 48 hours written notice must be given of proposed strike to employer
