In the 19th century, Britain imported cotton from India
So a railway was built from the cotton - cotton growing areas to the Mumbai ports where most of it were exported

Textiles factories were starting to develop in the 19th and 20th Century (causing RUM as ppl were moving in search for a job)
By the late 20th century the factories were declining therefore port declined as most of the exports were from there
