  • Sodium salts in alkaline solution
    • pH of 2.5% sodium thiopental = 10.5
  • Barbs are weak acids
  • pK for STP is 7.6
  • > or < 50 non-ionized in plasma?
  • Incompatible in solution with opioids, catecholamines and NMBAs –>Precipitates form… can be a huge

problem
