Defended James Somerset (a slave ) who had been brought from Jamaica to Britain - he attempted to run away but recaptured and sent back to Jamaica and after a legal battle it was decided that a master had no right to force an enslaved person to return to a foreign country

Captured and sold into slavery at the age of 13 in present day Ghana and skipped to Grenada and 1772 he purchased by an English merchant who took him England

James Ramsey
Navy ships doctor who saw the suffering of slaves in 1759 when he treated over 100 victims
Then became an Anglican minister on the island of st Kitts where he welcomed black and white

Born in 1729 on a slave ship in the mid Atlantic anc 1731 he was brought to England then ran way to work as butler for the duke of montagu
He wrote poetry and two plays frequently about the experience of slavery and once he died his letters were published to over 12000 subscribers
