Individualistic Policies Flashcards
A strategy implement to solve societies problem.
Policy
The goal of this is to bring the unconscious conflicts and repressed emotions into the conscious mind so they can be resolved.
Psychoanalysis
The theory psychoanalysis is based on, which highlights the unconscious conflicts between the ID and the Superego.
Psychodynamic theory (Freud)
This is where the client says whatever is on their mind based on a word said by the therapist, no matter how repulsive it might be.
Free association
This is when people transfer their feelings from one person to another person.
Transference
It is better than nothing. Evidence suggests that although the effectiveness is limited, it is still more effective than not addressing the issues at all.
Strength of Psychoanalysis.
-It is costly and time consuming.
-Analysts have the power to define what is normal/abnormal.
-It is not scientific and is too subjective.
Weaknesses of Psychoanalysis
This is where an ‘undesirable’ behaviour is paired with a repulsive sensation.
Aversion Therapy
The theory that is applied to aversion therapy, which argues that offenders are strongly neurotic and extrovert, making them more thrill seeking and harder to control.
Eynseck’s Personality Theory
The type of crime aversion therapy has been used as a treatment for.
Sexual crimes
-Has had very limited success, usually in the short term.
-Cannot be applied to all crimes.
-Its use has been criticised as human rights abuse.
