social class system you are born into in Hinduism, no social mobility-can’t move up or down in your lifetime

job ,marriage, where you live
What is karma?
actions in your lifetime that determine your position on caste system in the next lifetime (Hinduism)

What were the Four Noble truths?
all people suffer, to end suffering you must end desires
What is the Eightfold Path?
a guideline for Buddhists to follow-honesty, good actions, meditation, resist evil, etc.
What is the ultimate goal of a Buddhist?
nirvana-union with universe, perfect peace

China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, etc

rule of Ashoka, missionaries, Silk Road (CULTURAL DIFFUSION)
What are some similarities between Hinduism and Buddhism?
Karma, dharma, reincarnation, both emerged in India
What are some differences between Hinduism and Buddhism?
Buddhists reject caste system, Buddhists do not have Gods, Buddhism mainly spreads out of India

spread his Buddhist ideas, his laws to his people
