Explain how you would let someone know that you are in training?
I would say something like: Because I am in training I have ___ here with me, she is a more experienced justice interviewer and is here to offer some support and make sure that if there is some information I am unsure about she can give us the right detail
How do you explain your role as a JI?
key details are stating what I do (provide info and referrals) and what I can’t do (not a lawyer, no legal advice)
What are the exceptions to confidentiality?
our interaction is confidential except for child protection issues and when there is a serious threat to someone’s safety, and then I do have a duty to report
What are the two family violence screening questions?
Do you feel there is an escalating or immediate risk of violence or harrassment in your family? As a result of the other person’s bx have you ever felt fearful, scared or concerned about your physical or emotional safety or that of your children?
What would you do if someone talked about family violence?
ask more follow up questions, check in with an available FJC if safety planning is needed, check in with supervisor, assure the client there are resources and options and talk about those
What are some good questions to ask clients?
What is the makeup of their family (children) are they married or common law, what is their goal and what kind of help are they looking for
