Increasing Access - Disorder-Specific Treatment Flashcards

1
Q

Perrin et al (2019)

A

Pilot RCT evaluating GAD-specific CBT for children and adolescents, based on adult cognitive models

40 pps (10-18) 10 weeks of individual GAD-specific CBT or waitlist, and intention-to-treat analyses revealed large between-group differences in favour of CBT at posttreatment for remission from GAD (80% vs 0%) and comorbid disorders (83% vs 0%), as well as secondary outcomes, with gains maintained at 3mo follow-up, and significant reductions in cognitive processes relevant to GAD maintenance only for CBT group

Q

Ryan et al (2017)

A

Assessed one-session treatment (version of CBT with single 3h session of gradual exposure in combination with psychoeducation, skills training, and cognitive strategies) for specific phobias in 7-15, and whether outcomes influenced by comorbid disorder (SAD predictor of relatively poor outcomes in some OSTs)

Groups of 18 with primary specific phobia and either GAD or SAD matched on age, gender, and phobia type, with all groups improving in OST, with treatment equally effective regardless of comorbid AD, but at posttreatment, SAD remission worse than GAD remission, although the same at 6mo follow-up

Limited by small study sample and insufficient power to detect small and medium effect sizes
