Incisions Flashcards
What are the types of Incision Flaps
1) Random pattern (dental)
2) Axial
3) Free flap
What are the factors to consider when incising
1) Base must be wider than the top
- allow blood supply to reach surface of the wound
2) Incise parallel to collagen fibres
- incising perpendicular to it will not heal properly
3) Incise at the sulcus
- allows it to close naturally when lips close
- dont have to suture too much (not so tight)
- allow edema to escape during inflammation so doesn’t swell
Describe the types of sutures
1) Resorbable
2) Non-resorbable
3) Braided -> holds very well but less smooth -> more inflammation
4) Non-braided -> very smooth and clean -> less inflammation but technique must be perfect
