What is a report?
A piece of writing that is brief and is written to a specific audience on a specific topic.
What are the three types of reports?
Internal report, external reports and Incident reports.
What is an Internal report?
An internal report is a document made for use within a company. It shares information, data, analysis, or recommendations with colleagues or managers to help with decision-making or update them on projects. These reports aren’t usually shared outside the organization.
What is an External report?
An external report is a document that organizations create for people outside the organization, like investors or customers. These reports share information about the organization’s finances, practices, or other important details to keep stakeholders informed.
What is an Incident report.
An incident report is a document that explains what happened during an unexpected event at work. It records the details like when and where it happened, who was involved, and what actions were taken afterward. These reports help organizations learn from incidents to prevent them in the future.
When writing a report you should:
- Keep the information short and the point.
- Keep the information simple and avoid to many big words and long phrase.
- Collect your information and organize it before hand.
- Write a first draft and recognize it so that it will not be wordy.
- Use formal writing and no quotations.
What are the 4 W’s that reports SAY?
When, Who, Where and What happened.
What is Propaganda?
Propaganda is the spread of information which can be good or bad.
What are Propaganda Techniques
Ways in which information is spread such as newspapers and magazines.
What are the six types of propaganda techniques?
Name Calling, Transfer, Testimonial, Bandwagon, Repetition and Emotionally loaded words.
What is Bandwagon?
A propaganda technique which promotes doing what everybody else is doing.
What is Repetition?
Repeating of a word or idea for emphasis. Eg. Drink orange-O for breakfast, drink orange-O for lunch, drink orange-O for dinner. Orange-O for everyone.
What is Transfer?
A propaganda technique which uses a famous person wearing or using a product or service. Eg. Beyonce is seen drinking pepsi.
What is Testimonial?
A propaganda technique where a famous person talks about a product or a service. Eg. “Proactive is a game changer” says Adam Levine.
What is Emotionally Loaded Words?
Descriptive words used to gain an emotional response from the reader or viewer. Eg. Creamy, custard, caramel biscuits, from Chris’s shop is the best.
