Incarnation
The process of God the Son being human in the person of Jesus (to become human).
Annuncition
When the angel Gabriel appeared and told Mary she was pregnant.
Birth of Jesus
God being born in the human form.
The bridging between divinity and humanity.
The Word of God
The message Jesus is spreading as he is fully God.
Son of Man
Jesus as the son of Mary and Joseph

Fish - symbol to show a Christians faith when they were being persecuted
Alpha and Omega
First and last letter in the Greek alphabet. It symbolises that God is involved in everything from beginning to end.
Chi Rho
A symbol to remind us of the death of Jesus. It is an afformation that Jesus is the Messiah, sent by God, to save the world through his redeeming death. It is still seen on Priestal vestments and the Paster candles.
Sacred Heart
Shows god benevolence towards all of mankind.
Crucifix
It is what Jesus died on and is a reminder that his death saved the world.
Sermon on the Mount
A speech Jesus have to his followers which included the beatitudes
The beatitudes
Teaches people the right attitude to have in regards to God, themselves and their fellow human beings.
Parable of the sheep and goats
Compares how a shepard separates sheep and goats to how God will separate the good from the bad. In this parable we learn that if you don’t help everyone in need you will go to hell.
St Irenaeus about Jesus
God is beyond human understanding but through Jesus we can get to know what God is like as he is the Son of God and so displays some of his properties. This means that we can start to understand God’s nature through examaning the life and actions of Jesus.
Dei Verbum 4 on Jesus
God is revealed and speaks through Jesus. This is possible because Jesus is the Son of God. He brings salvation to all people.
The Son of God became a human to live among humans.
Verbum Domini 12 on Jesus
The Word if God limited himseld to a human form, so humans could come to understand God.
Through the very act of dying, Jesus gave himself into God’s hands. This led to his resurrection and to his glorification as the Word of God.
Grace
The free gift of God’s love
Sacraments
Moments of grace, special moments of God’s love and blessing upon the faithful.
Baptism
Rids a person of original sin and where a person receives the grace of the Holy Spirit
Confirmation
Where a person confirms their faith in Catholicism. They receive the grace of the Holy Spirit
Eucharist
The body of Christ
Reconciliation
Where we ask for God’s grace to rid us of sin.
Marriage
Public sign that two people are totally commited to each other. Example of family and God’s values.
Ordination
The sacrament by which men are ordained as priests or deacons. This sacrament includes the laying of hands.
Sacrament of the Sick
Often the final sacrament one will receive. Catholics believe that when they are given this sacrament it will bring: spiritual comfort; forgiveness of sins; strength and courage to accept illness and relief from anxiety.
Imago Dei
We are all made imago Dei (in the image of God)
Abortion
As we are all made imago Dei we all have dignity and worth as we are a part of God’s creation and so we must never deliberately harm or kill another human starting at conception.
