God, the being who created the universe and all life within.
Creation
The act by which God brought the universe and all life into being.
Genesis 1
First chapter in the Bible, which tells us how God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th.
Genesis 2
Second chapter in the Bible which tells us how God brought Adam and Eve into existense and how they betrayed him.

Creation of Adam
Painting in the Sistine Chapel which shows God putting life into Adam. However, a downfall to the painting is that he doesn’t show this in the same way it does in the Bible.
Free Will
Free Will is the gift of doing as we please but with their being consequnces when we make the wring choices.
Stewardship
Stewardship is the idea that we have a duty to look after God’s creation and hand it to the nect generation with as little damage as possible.
Sanctity of Life
The idea that all life is holy at every stage and so we have a duty to protect everyone from harm. This includes not having abortions.
Bible
Bible comes from the Greek word “Biblion” meaning book. It is comprised of many smaller books containing Catholic scriptutes.
Testament
A Testament is a state of belief. The bible is broken down into the Old and New Testament .
Old Testament
The Old Testament describes how God guided and protected the Jews and how he sent orophetsh to warn them they were going wrong.
New Testament
The New Testament is based on the life and teachings of Jesus and the apostles.
History books
Show how God guided his people and how they often refused to listen. These stories are included to prevent the later generations from making the same mistakes. (Joshua, Judges)
Wisdom books
Includes prayers, psalms, books of advice and poems which show people how to use their God-given talents to do what is right in order to stay close to God. (Psalms, Proverbs)
Law books
The first 5 books which show how Jews became people of God and includes God’s guidance on how they should live their lives. (Genesis, Exodus)
Prophetic books
Contains the words of inspired figures who were sent by God to teach people about how God is active in the world and to challenge people to stay faithful to God. (Daniel, Amos)
Gospels
Record the actions and teachings of Jesus. (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John)
Acts of the Apostles
Continuation of the Gospel of Luke which tell some of the events in the early Church, up to 60CE
Epistles
Letters which show Christians how to live by Jesus’ teachings and what it means to be a Christian. (Romans, Corinthians)
Book of Revelation
An apocalyptic book written by John featuring his own mystical visions which some Christians believe describe the end of the world.
Inspiration
Word used to describe the way the Holy Spirit tells the bible writers what to right.
Magisterium
The teaching authority of the Catholic Church, exercised by the Pope and the bishops.
Myth
A traditional story involving supernatural events or beings.
Sacred Scripture
Writing that is regarded as sacred by a religious group.
Fundamentalist
Someone who takes all of the bible literally.
Natural Law
The idea that by looking at the universe we can work out what is right and wrong.
Natural Law - Precepts
The “laws” that Thomas Aquinas developed.
Their are 5 primary laws: Preserving life, reproduction, education and offspring, living as a society, studying and praying to God.
Environment
The surroundings in which organisms lives in.
Interdependence
How two or more different species interact with each other for survival purposes.
CAFOD
A Catholic charity which are currently working on reducing the carbon footprint by tackling deforestarion and pollution.
Sustainability
Only using natural resources at a rate at which they can be replaced.
