INFORMATION TO CONSIDER EN-ROUTE TO THE SCENE

A

OBTAIN:
- Description of suspect
- Description of suspects car
- Suspects direction of travel
- Descriptions of weapson

WATCH:
- Any suspicious vehicles that come to and from the scene (Record plate)

PLAN:
- Where to park vehicle in relation to the scene (SPF) - Safe Forward Point.
- Plan initial action upon arrival

WHAT IS THE RELEVANT INFO OBTAINED FROM INFORMANT?

A
  • Locate informant and brief facts
  • Ask informant/witness to:
  • Identify victim and/or offender
  • If offender is not present then the offenders direction of travel, vehicle details, rego number
  • Update comms and advise them who is present and if offender has left and any details about the offender
  • Ask the W/V the location of the scene
  • If possible ask them to remain in a specified place and explain to them that they may need to be interviewed more fully soon.

WHAT INFO SHOULD BE GIVEN IN A SITREP (SITUATION REPORT)?

A

Keep comms informed of any changes at the scene and any action required:
- Include information that could help locate the offender
- Advise what assistance is needed
- use your radio or mobile in private
- Provide location of the SFP to staff who are on their way to scene.

WHAT INFO IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO TAKING UP SCENE GUARD?

A

You must ask the O/C of the scene:
- Who is authorised to enter the scene?
- Where are the scene boundaries?
- Where is the designated point of entry?
- What route must authorised personnel take through the scene?
- Are there any suspects? If so, obtain photo/description.
