Q

What are the functions of the ECM?

A
  • Space for diffusion of O2 and nutrients
  • Space for diffusion of growth factors
  • Space for cells to migrate through
  • Increase tissue strength, flexibility, and resistance to compression
  • Template for cell regeneration
  • Marker for tissue location

Q

What do CDK1/Cyclin phosphorylate, and what does that cause to occur

A
  • Pore proteins –> pores disassemble
  • Lamins –> Lamina disassembles
  • Histone H1 –> Chromosomes condense
  • Transcription factors –> shuts off transcription
  • Servant kinase
    • Activates a kinase that causes the nuclear envelope fo break down
    • Activates a kinase that causes microtubule GTPase to be modified so catastrophe happens more quickly
