Important Stuff Flashcards
1
Q
TCR specificity
A
- unique specificity
- only interact with self-MHC
- present ONE specific Peptide at a time
2
Q
BCR specificity
A
- unique specificity
- > specific to ONE epitope
- expresses many identical BCRs
- can present exogenous antigens to Th-cells
- > they are APCs, but can only present antigen that BCR recognizes
3
Q
MHC specificity
A
- Broad Specificity
- Can bind different peptides, BUT only ONE at a time
- bind antigens, but do not recognize
- > APCs
4
Q
Antibody specificity
A
- each B cell makes antibodies with ONE antigen binding specificity identical to the BCR of that B-cell
- > have the same variable region in the F(ab) region of the antibody molecule
5
Q
Polyclonal Antibodies
A
- Pathogen/vaccine has many different epitopes, so there are many different types of Ab made for the pathogen/vaccine
- Antibodies from multiple clones of B cells
6
Q
Monoclonal Antibodies
A
- Antibody made from a single clone, all being identical with the same epitope recognition
7
Q
Fc Region
A
- constant region
- determines biological activity of the Ab
- determines the CLASS
8
Q
F(ab) region
A
- variable region
- determines the antigen specificity of the antibody molecule
