injury - fractures (#)
a complete or partial break in a bone. If the broken bone punctures the skin, it is called an open or compound fracture.
injury - spinal cord injuries
damage to any part of the spinal cord or nerves at the end of the spinal canal. A spinal cord injury often causes permanent loss of strength, sensation and function below the site of the injury.
mental illness e.g. post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event - either experiencing it or witnessing it. symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
Acquired brain injury (ABI)
brain damage caused by events after birth, most often trauma or stroke, rather than as part of a genetic or congenital disorder
Haemorrhaging
term used to describe bleeding or blood loss; can be inside the body, called internal bleeding, or blood loss outside of the body, called external bleeding. Blood loss can occur in almost any area of the body.
