the old red sandstone rock in Munster was formed and later covered by limestone.

Around 250m yrs ago…

A

these rocks were compressed during the Armorican folding. The compression came from the north and south so the mountains have an east-west trend. You can travel through the valleys from east to west.

from the anticlines and so mountains like the comeraghs south of Clonmel are seen as Sandstone.
