> treat disorders of RBC formation to dcr need for trasfusions
> renal failure
> antineoplastic treatments -
Contraindications
> angina
> anticoag therapy
> caution in CHF

AEs
> fatigue
> bone pain
> edema
> HTN
> headache
> fever
> (DVT, CVA, MI have occured w/ treatment) -
Nursing
> monitor CBC weekly
> check VS (risk for HTN)
> anaglesia for bone pain
> Goal Hgb greater than 10
> Hold or dose reduction if Hgb > 12
