Immunology Complement Flashcards
C1 Inhibitor
Inactivates C1s and C1r or MASP1 and MASP2. Deficiency can lead to HAE
Factor I
Serine protease that mediates enzymatic inactivation of C3b and C4b. No C3 convertase. Alternative pathway.
Factor I needs cofactors like
MCP, CR1, FH or C4BP
CD59
Prevents MAC assembly (NO C9)
DAF diseases
(CD55) Paraxysmal nocturnal hemogloburinia
C3 diseases
Suspec. capsulated bacteria
C1,C2 and C4 diseases
immune complex dx
Factor D/Properdin dx
Suspec. to capsulated bacteria
Neisseria meningitidis stems from
Deficiencies in MAC formation C5 to C9 OR Deficiencies in AP like factor B and properdin
CH50 and AC50 abnormal leads to
C3 defect or in terminal pathway
CH50 abnormal
CP defect in C1, C2 or C4
AC50 abnormal
Ap defect in Factor D, B or Properdin
CD55 and CD59
Essential surface proteins that are anchored to GPI for health. Protect blood cells from complement.
What are the soluble complement modulators?
Factor I, Factor H and C4BP
