Q

What is Type IV hypersensitivity reaction? What are examples?

A

Also called “delayed hypersensitivity.” Requires prior desensitization. Initiated by mononuclear leukocytes–mediated by T cells and monocytes/macrophages rather than by antibodies. Examples include contact dermatitis, allograft rejection, poison ivy, TB test.
