A patient presents with a tetanus-prone wound, what should you do
A
It should be cleaned and dressed
If last tetanus vaccine was given >5yrs and dirty or >10yrs and clean they should get a booster (Td or boostrix)
If pt vaccination hx is incomplete they should have the 3x course, and a tetanus IVIG
> 6hrs, tissue damadge, penetratin,g infected = dirty
