Land was scarce, Farm machines were replacing workers, Political or religious persecution, Political unrest.
What were some Pull Factors?
Jobs, Land, Religion, Promise of freedom.
Why did Nativists want to limit immigration?
They took jobs and others feared them because they were so different.
What services did Settlement Houses offer?
Taught classes in American Government and English, gave instruction on health care, provided nurseries for children, provided recreational activites.
