Immediate Action/Memory Items Flashcards
Warning Horn - (Intermittent)
In flight at an altitude above 10,000 ft
- Oxygen masks -Don, regulators 100%
- Crew communications - Establish
Go to CABIN ALTITUDE WARNING or RAPID DEPRESSURIZATION checklist
Note-same noise as takeoff config on ground (brief)
Warning Horn on ground - (Intermittent)
Or TAKEOFF CONFIG light on ground
Ensure takeoff configuration - correct
CABIN ALTITUDE WARNING (LVAC=horn)
Or
Rapid Depressurization
- Oxygen masks - Don, regulators 100%
- Crew communications - Establish
- Pressurization mode selector - MAN
- Outflow valve switch - Hold to
CLOSE until outflow valve indicates
Fully closed) - IF cabin altitude is uncontrollable
a. Passenger signs - On
b. Passenger Oxygen - On
c. Execute Emergency Decent checklist
Emergency Descent
- Emergency Descent - Announce
a. PF advise the cabin crew on PA
b. PM advise ATC and obtain altimeter - Passenger signs - On
- Descend -Without delay
- ENGINE START switches BOTH & CONT
- Thrust levers (both) - Reduce thrust to
Minimum or as needed for anti-ice - Speedbrake - FLIGHT DETENT
- Set target speed - MMO/VMO (limit speed if structural integrity is in doubt)
Aborted Engine Start
- Engine Start Lever (affected engine) - CUTOFF
APU Fire
- APU Fire Switch - confirm - pull, rotate to the stop and hold 1 second
- APU Switch - Off
Elevator (Trim) Tab Limit Cycle Oscillation
- Airspeed - Reduce to 270 KIAS or until the vibration ceases whichever is lower
- Do not use speed brakes or change aircraft configuration to reduce speed
Engine Limit…Surge…or Stall
- Autothrottle (if engaged) - Disengage
- Thrust lever (affected engine)…confirm - Reduce until engine within limits, or fully closed
Engine Fire
Or
Engine severe damage or separation
- Autothrottle (if engaged) - disengage
On affected engine:
2. Thrust lever - confirm - closed
3. Engine start lever - confirm - closed
4. Engine fire switch - confirm - pull
(Manually unlock by pressing override and pull)
5. IF engine fire switch or overheat illuminated - rotate to the stop and hold for 1 second
Engine Overheat
- Auto throttle (if engaged) - disengage
- Thrust lever (affected engine) - confirm close
- If ENG OVERHEAT light stays illuminated - go to Engine Fire, severe damage or separation checklist
Airspeed Unreliable
- Autopilot - Disengage (if engaged)
- Autothrottle- disengage (if engaged)
- F/D switches (both) - OFF
- Set the following pitch ups and thrust
a. Flaps extended - 10 deg / 80% N1
b. Flaps up - 4 deg / 75% N1
Loss of Thrust on Both Engines
Assumes total loss
- Engine START switches - both & FLT
- Engine start levers - both - CUTOFF
- WHEN EGT decreases
a. Engine start levers-both IDLE DETENT - IF EGT reaches a redline or there is
no increase in EGT within 30 seconds:
a. Engine start lever (affected engine) -
Confirm - CUTOFF, then idle DETENT
b. If it happens again, repeat as needed
Runaway Stabilizer
- Control Column - Hold Firmly
- Autopilot - disengage (if engaged)
- Autothrottle - disengage (if engaged)
- Pitch & Power - control the airplane
- Main Electric Stab Trim - use to reduce
Control column forces - IF runaway stops after Autopilot
disengages - don’t use autopilot or
Autothrottle - IF runaway continues after autopilot
Disengagement
a. Stab trim switches - both - CUTOUT
b. IF runaway continues - grasp and
Hold trim wheel (last resort)
