Flows And Procedures Flashcards
Preflight/Safety Flow (Single Pilot)
- Inform MX (walk-around pilot) you’ll be testing fire handles and starting APU
- Ensure all switches are either off
CRM
When the PF has autopilot engaged what is he in charge of.
The mode control panel (MCP)
The CDU (box) changes unless delegated to PM
Typically won’t do radios unless the PM is running a Non-normal checklist or troubleshooting
CRM
The pilot monitoring (PM) is typically in charge of
Ramp control comms for engine start
ATC comms
Checklists
The MCP and Box when PF is hand flying
PF Takeoff Brief
- Taxi Route: expect RWY 31L
- Departure will be Kennedy5, Breezy
Point climb to 5k then Radar Vectors - V Speeeds are: V1, Vr, V2
- RTO
a. Below 80 Kias for any malfunction
b. Between 80 and V1 for:
Engine Fire or Failure
Loss of control
Safety of flight
Wind shear
c. Cabin alt warning above 10,000
Don O2, 100%, Crew comms, ATC
d. Anti-Ice/De-icing
What are the big ticket items or Capt’s pre-flight flow
- Set MCP up for departure procedure
- The BOX!: Get that POS & plan
activated - Center console: rdy for engine start
parking brake typically on (3k psi) - Center aft: radios and trim
- Oxygen test, NWS, lights
- Flight instruments and displays
What are the normal sequence of events leading up to engine start?
- PF/Capt: Dark cockpit setup pilot, MX forms, electrical power up, Capt Preflight
- PM/FO: walk around, FNG pre-flight flow
- CAPT: “preflight checklist”
- PF/Capt: Taxi and Takeoff Brief
- “Before engine start”
a. start flows
b. Capt informs gnd pers of engine start (only if in chalks)
c. FO informs ramp control of start
and push clearance (Tail L/R)
d. Capt tells GND PERS brakes are released, rdy push, tail L/R
e. Capt asks GND personnel “cleared to start?”
f. Capt: “Start ___ engine”
How do you “step” through your CDU plan?
After inputting and executing plan, you have to activate and execute your plan.
Then, to “step” through to check each leg, go to “legs” and “Map” on EFIS which will give you the step option in LS 6

What is V2 + 15
Think of it as Vx for flap configuration and it allows for 30 degrees of bank (15 until)
