ILS Flashcards
GLIDEPATH
Beyond the rtunway treshold lateral displaced to the side of the runway centrilne
Marker beacon
Blue»_space;low tone»2 dashes per sec
Amber»medium»alternate dashes/dots
White»high»_space;6 dots per sec
All maker beacon operate on a 75 Mhz carrier frequncy
Localiser
VHF frequency
Ils odds number
Range 108.00 111.975 mhz
90hz (left). Amplitutde modulated
150hz (right)
Glidepath
Works on UFH frequncy
UHF is paired with localizer
Radiation of sidelobes gives rise to false glide paths at multiple of the intended path
Identtifaction and monitoring
Identify by morse code or viusally on modern a/c
Coarse line is the line between the 150mhz and 90 mhz
Warning if:
~receive d strength is below a threshold value
~absence of carrier frequncy
~absence of modulation simultaneosly
~percenatage modulation of nav signal reduced to 0
Hsi/cdi fro ILS
Loc 2.7»_space; fulll scale deflection
Glipeslope 0.7
Back course approaches reverse sense
Localizer 25nm»_space;10 degreees either side
17 nm 35degrees either side
Glideslope 10nm and 8 degrees either side
CAT 1 (DA ,ALTITUDE BAROMETRIC)»>200ft DA»RVR 550m
CAT 2 (RADIO ALTIMENTER )»>100FT»RVR 300m
CAT 3 (0 FT DECISION HEIGHT)»>0FT DA»>RVR 200m
Guidance to and along the runway (rollout guidance)
A
B»>RVR 75m
C»_space;>RVR 0m
Bellow 1000ft RVR are advisary ,whihcm eans you can carry on wihtout going around if the rvr drops in approach
Defelction
Must fly within 1/2 scale defelction to be considered established
Exceeding 1/2 scale deflection ,mandatory go around
Errors
Multi path propagation
Beam bend: deviation from nomial loc and gp which can be assessed by flight test.the result of multi path propagation caused by objects in the ILS area.
ILS CRITICAL AREA
USED DAY TO DAY ,CAT 1
AN AREA DIMENSION AROUND THE LOC AND GP ANTENNA WHERE VEHICLES
ILS SENSITIVE AREA
USED DURING LVPs ,CAT 2 OR CAT 3
An area extending beoynd the ILS cruitical area, where parking or movimnet of vehicles, inclusing a/c .is controlled to prevent the possbiity of unacceptabe intefence to the ils during ils operation
