IHC = indivdual behavioural. biological, medical factors connected to health and ill-health SCHP = Structural causes of ill-health - social and environmental situations

Needle exchange program
Seat belt laws
Smoking bans - plain packaging
What are the two main complaints of IHP programs?
Tendency towards victim-blaming
Usually lack success in changing behaviour in the long-term as they fail to take into consideration psychosocial circumstances.
In what case has SCHP been ineffective
Ineffective in creating community change as they were “health education” and not real structural change
